The Story of Electronics (released on November 9th, 2010 at storyofelectronics.org) explores the high-tech revolution’s collateral damage―25 million tons of e-waste and counting, poisoned workers and a public left holding the bill. Annie takes viewers from the mines and factories where our gadgets begin to the horrific backyard recycling shops in China where many end up. Produced by Free Range Studios, The film concludes with an opportunity for viewers to send a message to electronics companies demanding that they “make ‘em safe, make ‘em last, and take ‘em back.”
The film was made in close partnership with the Electronics TakeBack Coalition, a national network of over 30 environmental and health organizations working to promote green design and responsible recycling in the electronics industry.
